CNC Machined Custom Injection Molded Paint Masks

For over 20 years, Bermar Associates, Inc. has contracted with automotive suppliers to injection mold a series of paint masks for car and truck shock absorbers. The paint masks are designed to protect the metal shaft of the shock from paint, which can impede the performance of the shock absorber.

Utilizing our in-house engineering expertise, we designed, built, molded, and assembled the injection-molded paint masks. Usually, the parts were designed from a sample shock absorber. The final product met tolerances as low as .005 of an inch or tighter. Assembly included metal clips and springs. All secondary operations were completed at Bermar Associates.

Constructed from polyphenylene oxide material, each paint mask measured anywhere between 2 – 13.5 inches in length, 1 -2.5 inches in width, and 1 – 2 inches in height. The product weighed between 60 – 250 grams, depending on the mask size. We lightly sandblasted the mold with 400 – 600 grit material for a matte-surface finish. The molds contained one cavity each of both the male and female ends. Certain models featured spring-loaded parts with expansion and contraction capabilities.

Once assured from a test sample that the masks fulfilled all client product requirements, we then packaged the finished items in 14 x 14 x 14 inch cartons and shipped these components to various customer-designated global locations within a specified delivery time.

Successfully meeting ISO per print requirements, we now produce 500 – 10,000 paint masks annually per order for our automotive clients.
